Wow. I have to say that November ended on a particularly thrilling and emotional note for me. As many of you know, I have been active in the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS) for many years.
It is a wonderful organization where members go out of their way to provide each other with wisdom, guidance and support. Even the members who are direct competitors routinely sit down, break bread and even the occasional glass of wine.
At the CAPS national conference last week I was honoured and humbled to have been inducted into the Canadian Speaking Hall of Fame. That’s Patricia Katz, one of the other 25 Hall of Fame members making the presentation. Thanks to Dov of www.PhotographybyDov.com for the great photo.
One of the lessons that I cited in accepting the award was the fact that there is no other greater influence on our success than ourselves. Not the economy. Not the competition. With the right resources and the right community, like CAPS, we each have the ability to meet all our goals.
And speaking of that, it is December and for many, it’s the time to get deals done! Or as Chris said upon my return from the CAPS convention, what have you done for me lately?
