First of all, you have to make sure they know what your sales goals are. I know that sounds crazy for some, but oftentimes the goals are in the sales leader or owner’s head and they don’t get communicated to the seller.

Next, you have to remember that no one wants to hit your goal. They only want to hit their goals. Therefore, it’s your job to figure out how to turn your goal into something they want to accomplish. How do their goals help you hit your revenue targets? How do your goals help them hit their personal goals? Once you understand that, then you can tie your objectives back to them hitting their goals and you can build a pathway to achieving your goals simultaneously.
