The number one most discussed topic by my community in the past year has been surrounding cold calling.
If you’re an active member of my online communities, you may recall seeing much of the debate behind the statement I made…cold calling is dead.
Let’s reference a recent study by Forrester. Their data demonstrates that a whopping 92% of executives will not return a cold call.
Yes, that’s 92%!
Now, I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not spend my time searching for the 8% of executives that may entertain a cold call. I’d rather go searching for a needle in a haystack.
I’m not saying that you should be abandoning all efforts that require you to use a phone, just that you need to be a little more strategic than picking up a phone book (do people still use those?) and calling businesses at random.
Send outreaches via social media, or email, or host a live event, and then pick up the phone and call people that you’ve engaged with. Right off the bat, doesn’t that sound like a much more strategic plan that will lead to more success?
I urge you, to rid yourself of the time-wasting shackles of cold calling, and instead, embrace a ubiquitous approach.
