The Miami beach dining scene is always in flux. In fact, when Chris and I leave in April we always place bets as to which “new favorites” will still be around for us to enjoy when we return in 6 months. This year we had a number of casualties including two local spots, Sienna Tavern and Pi Pizza, closing within 6 months of opening.
Over the weekend we ventured out to try a new offering: Izzy’s Fish and Oyster Bar. While you might not think Miami Beach needs another seafood restaurant, Izzy’s is unique. The menu is “New England” style with no hint of South American flavor, and it is set up to be locals friendly. Think clam bakes, lobster rolls, crab cakes, and an ever changing roster of New England Oysters. The service is friendly. The prices are normal. And the cocktails are inventive.
We will be back! And I suggest you check it out! It’s tucked away neighborhood at 423 Washington Avenue!
